Boothbay Region YMCA is calling all indoor cycling enthusiasts

The Boothbay Region YMCA recently received a wonderful gift of six indoor cycling bikes for our healthy living program from the Boothbay Harbor Country Club. They are top of the line LifeFitness models , and we sincerely thank the Coulombes and the BHCC for their continued generous support. These bikes bring a smooth updated ride and include a computer console/monitor which gives the rider feedback on speed, resistance level, mileage, and numerous other ways to motivate.

Just ask our team of enthusiastic and certified cycling instructors, Carla Carver, Lolly Donatelli, Bill Coll, Bill Greuner, Meagan Hamblett and Abby Jones. We’re all very enthusiastic about the new (to us) bikes and encourage everyone to come give them a try.

We offer six cycle classes/week (schedule on our Y website www.boothbayregionymca.org.).

Whether you are a cycling enthusiast or you’ve never been on a bike, please consider one of our classes. You can also stop by the Y anytime, to check us out and take a ride.

Indoor cycling, also called spinning, is considered one of the best, low-impact exercises for all fitness levels. Indoor cycling is especially suited for beginners to ride right in the same class with experienced riders. We’re all in the room, sharing energy, cycling to good music with legs spinning round and round. Each participant determines their own level of resistance, speed, and challenge. All our instructors are welcoming and happy to help you set up your bike and get you going.

Our goal is to replace the remaining bikes to match these newer bikes — you will see them on the wish list in our lobby. Having a full set of the same bike will allow us to take our cycling classes to the next level and also to add new programs.

We look forward to using these new bikes to launch a new “Peddling for Parkinson’s” program, which will complement our ongoing Boxing and Fitness for Parkinson’s called “Rock Steady.”

Clearly, these bikes offer something for fitness enthusiasts of all levels.
