Boothbay falls to Monmouth 51-48

The Boothbay Region Seahawks dropped to 6-2 on the season with a 51-48 loss at Monmouth Monday, Jan. 6.

After the Seahawks ran out to a 12-4 lead, the Mustangs battled back and tied the game 14-14 early in the second quarter and from there, there were several lead changes.

With about three minutes to play, a layup by Chloe Arsenault, followed by a foul line jumper by Jaelyn Crocker, gave Boothbay a 46-43 lead. Made free throws down the stretch by Monmouth proved the difference. The Mustangs improved to 7-1 with the win.

Glory Blethen led Boothbay with 28 points, including a 35-foot three pointer at the end of the third quarter which tied the game at 35-35. Arsenault tallied 11 points for the Seahawks and Crocker scored four.

Abby Flanagan led Monmouth with 19 points, followed by Emma Johnson with 10 and Libby Clement with eight.
