The Theater Project

Be bound for the ‘second star to the right’

Wed, 01/16/2019 - 12:30pm

The Theater Project in Brunswick is excited to present “Peter and the Starcatcher” coming up in February! This Tony Award-winning play, written by Rick Elice and based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, is directed by The Project’s Artistic  Director, Al Miller. The will be onstage  at The Theater Project Feb. 1-17.

This whimsical, creative adventure of The Boy of Who Would Not Grow Up (a.k.a. Peter Pan) is a rich and exciting imagining of the backstory of J.M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy.  In this prequel, we meet Peter when he was just a nameless orphan boy, Captain Hook when he still had two hands, and Wendy Darling’s mother, Molly, a curious, clever 13-year-old.

As Director Miller says, “Who was Peter Pan before he was Peter Pan? How did Peter learn to fly? The answers lie in ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’ a delightful story that moves fast enough to leave a wake in the sea that you’re asked to imagine.”

From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, “Peter and the Starcatcher” playfully explores the depths of greed and despair and the bonds of friendship, duty and love.

There will be an opening night reception on Friday, Feb. 1: everyone is welcome to enjoy refreshments after the show and to meet the director, cast and crew.

Other performance times are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Thursday shows are Pay-What-You-Want Nights.

Regular tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, $10 for children (12 and under; kids under 2 are free as long as they sit on a patron’s lap); top level seating in the theater is always Pay-What-You-Want.

Tickets are available anytime at or by calling the box office at 207-729-8584.

The Theater Project is located at 14 School Street in downtown Brunswick and is a 501(c)(3) organization.
