Bayville Buzz: The final credits

Tue, 09/18/2018 - 7:15am

The great migration continues - and no, we are not talking about the one on the Serengeti, but right here in Bayville. Despite the parking bans and traffic cones, U-hauls and moving vans line the roads and are loaded with the memories of another summer season. Even though the calendar says summer officially ends this weekend, for most of us, Labor Day marks the season finale.

Of course, our year-round residents chuckle at the spectacle of our departure and look upon us with sympathy, laughing that we flee as the thermometer drops, missing out on the beauty of the fall and winter (?) seasons. I have heard rumors that this hardy group has quite the celebration the evening after the last vehicle “from away” pulls onto 96. Our investigative team is trying to confirm.
Phil told me if there was said party, he would attend with a wire if I would leave him out of any future editions of the Buzz, but sorry Phil, no can do.

There are numerous people who help keep Bayville the special place that it is. These people have all been thanked before — and I’m sure will be thanked again — but since this is the last Buzz of ‘18, let the credits begin.

We have the BVC; El Jefe Greg Merrill, Jim Coleman, Andrea Nielsen, Joe Rosenbloom, the BIA starring Jill Albaum (treasurer), Liz Duncan (secretary), Liz Bagonzi (Maine rep.), Rebecca Stover and Diana Fresca (Kids Waterfront), Laura Allison and Lou Mucci both doing whatever is needed, our resident DJ, S to the P to the e-n-c, Nancy Coleman Florists for the Post Office window boxes, sewer guy Dave (need I say more?), Kate Geiselman, our social media guru, organizers Bill “Lobster Bake” LaPointe (thanks Dennis!), Jill Albaum and Ginger Robitaille (US Pickle Ball Tourney and Ice Cream Social) and the staff of Phil, Al and Becky Roberts at Garboligists.com. To Mark Spencer for his help on so many things, but most notably, feeding the masses during our July 4 celebration (thank you Boothbay Harbor Band!) and The Waterfront Festival. To Alina Blakesley for her fantastic work on the Buzz, to Alton and Irv for their great work around Bayville and to all the local places and people who make the Boothbay area special.

There is only one person happier than me that the Buzz is put to rest for awhile and that would be Mr. Bayville himself, Phil Roberts. Not only does Phil graciously accept my sarcasm and attempts at humor (though he has promised slow, painful revenge), but more importantly, he really is the person who can be counted on any time help is needed by anyone, anywhere. A thousand thank you’s Phil, we are lucky to know you!

My biggest personal thanks has to go to my Dad, Bill Allison and his girlfriend, partner, significant other, and more, Cec Borgeson, as they always have the house ready and the fridge full for whatever land or sea assault the various members of the Allison/McNamara families might put together.

Have a wonderful off season and wherever you are and whatever you are doing, may you be happy and healthy until the Buzz is back! And it will be back Phil. Sorry.
