Barbara Jean Hodgdon Stacy of Dresden passed away on April 2, 2019.

She was born on June 22, 1946 to Shirley Reid Hodgdon and Perley Hodgdon. She grew up in Woolwich, attending Woolwich Central School and Morse High School. Her sport was basketball and often remarked that the Phippsburg girls team was tough to beat. She adored her father and went on many outings with him down to Trevett to visit her grandmother and various aunts and uncles.

Barbara married Michael Stacy on Valentine’s Day 1964. They had four children: Michael Jr., Christine, Sarah and Deborah. She was a blessed Grammy to eight grandchildren with whom she shared mutual adoration. She was further blessed with three step great-grandchildren. A gifted cook and seamstress, she created many of her children’s clothes in their younger years. She could knit and crochet to perfection and also enjoyed making crafts.

Christmas was her favorite time of year and she went all out baking, making candy and decorating with her Santa collection for the special occasion. Barbara enjoyed fishing trips in Northern Maine with family and friends.

Barbara was a beloved mother, loving wife and fantastic cook. She volunteered as a room mother at Woolwich Central School while her children attended there. She also taught Sunday School at the Nequasset Congregational Church, was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and was a member of the Nequasset Ladies Auxiliary.

Barbara did the bookkeeping for her husband’s excavating business and was employed at her daughter’s Copy Shop print shop in Wiscasset until she retired.

In recent years, she and Michael enjoyed rebuilding a camp that they purchased in Aroostook County, spending months at a time enjoying the beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings there.

She is survived by her son, Michael Jr. and wife Christina; daughters, Christine and husband Tom, Sarah and husband Wayne, and Deborah and wife Lisa; brothers, Roger of Troy and Henry of Woolwich; and many nieces and nephews.
