A Boothbay man has been indicted on a litany of charges by the Lincoln County Grand Jury for a May 26 incident in Boothbay Harbor.

Williams Spear, 49, of Boothbay was arrested in May and was recently indicted by the Lincoln County Grand Jury for aggravated assault, assault, domestic violence assault, criminal operating under the influence and refusing to submit to arrest.

Spear is alleged to have been in a car accident on the night in question when he returned to his house in Boothbay. He reportedly fell out of his car, then went into the house where he reportedly assaulted a family member by pushing them in the chest.

Spear was reportedly incoherent during the incident; at one point he is alleged to have picked up a vial of nasal spray and tried to dial it, as if it were a telephone, according to a report from Boothbay Harbor Police Officer Patrick Higgins.

At this point the police were called, and an ambulance was sent to Spear's house. Spears was alleged to have assaulted one of the ambulance personnel, and was charged with Class B aggravated assault and Class C assault for the incident.

The OUI, domestic violence assault, and refusing to submit charges are all classified as Class D crimes.

Spear's alcohol leveled was reported at .15 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood or 210 liters of breath.

Class B crimes carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine. Class C crimes have a maximum penalty of five years in prison and or a $5,000 fine. Class D crimes are misdemeanors.
