Art, ice cream, books and rope jumping at Community Night
Boothbay Region Elementary School hosted its annual Community Night on Thursday, May 1, featuring a book fair, ice cream social, student art show and jump rope club demonstration between 5 and 7 p.m.
In the school lobby, books, book marks and more were on sale. At the top of the stairs outside the gym, art work done by dozens of BRES students in a variety of mediums, under the guidance of art teacher Jessica Nadeau, was on display. In the gym, before the one-hour jump rope club demonstration, visitors were treated to scoops of vanilla ice cream, with hot fudge and whipped cream topping offered as toppings.
The BRES jump rope club, under the direction of physical education teacher Lauren Brown, concluded its season with its 47 members putting on a show. Individuals, pairs, trios and groups performed to music in about 20 different demonstrations.
