AOS 98 schools’ information on meals
Alternative Organizational Structure (AOS) 98 has one or more schools that participate in Special Provision II or Community Eligible Provision. This alternative is referred to as Provision II or CEP. All students enrolled in schools listed below may participate in the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program at no charge. Household free/reduced meal applications will not be distributed or received for Boothbay Region High School, Boothbay Region Elementary School, Edgecomb Eddy School or Georgetown Central School but similar forms may be distributed by the school to collect household income data for other programs that require this information, such as Federal Title programs. Southport Central School will be distributing and collecting meal applications since this will be a base year for their Special Provision II recertification.
All students will be served breakfast and lunch at no charge at all of the above listed schools. For additional information please contact: Heidi Stevens, AOS 98 Food Service Director, 207-633-7131 or hstevens@aos98schools.org.
Studies show that children who are not hungry perform better in school. By providing both breakfast and lunch at no cost to students, we are helping to create a better learning environment as well as provide vital nutrition to support brain and physical growth, and overall health. Preventing hunger in our children promotes better behavior, better health, and lower absenteeism.
The school meals that we serve follow U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals, including lower sodium and sugar levels, a variety of fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. The School Breakfast and Lunch Programs cannot succeed without your support; please encourage your children to participate in the school meals programs.
The application requesting economic information supports many programs at our schools which helps reduce the local tax. Please complete and return the forms. Only one per family is needed. This information is used to provide funding for many of the specialized (title) programs our children need. It also assists with acquiring funding for secondary education for our graduating students. These economic status forms will be distributed and collected by our schools and processed by authorized personnel. These forms are kept confidential. It is important that these Economic Status forms are filled out correctly and returned promptly. The same confidentiality is applied to the meal application forms distributed in Southport, which will be processed and determinations made by Heidi Stevens, food service director.
