Southport, Boothbay Harbor, Boothbay, Edgecomb and Georgetown voters passed the Alternative Organizational Structure (AOS) 98 budget May 13. The 17-article warrant passed in under 14 minutes.

Article 2 authorized spending $208,486 for special education and Article 3 authorized $1,149,928 for system administration. Articles 4-12, each seeking no funding, were taken separately. As explained in previous years’ budget meetings, the categories must appear in school budgets despite the AOS not having those types of expenditures. The vote in each category also allows for future changes.

Article 13 passed, one opposed, for a total budget of $1,358,414 with total proposed assessments of $577,207; Article 14 authorized spending funds from federal, state and other grants or programs; Article 15, two voting against, transfer of $5,000 from undesignated funds to capital reserve funds; Article 16, transfer of $10,000 from undesignated funds for unemployment reserve; and Article 17, one voting against, transfer of $20,000 from undesignated funds for salary reserve.
