These four Y members have all become part of a special group at the Boothbay Region YMCA. They, along with a few others, have been presented with the Dorothy Abbott Senior Star award.
The award is in recognition of their faithful attendance at the YMCA at an age when many have retreated to rocking chairs. This privilege is bestowed on those who are over 90 years of age and who have been members for at least two years. Stars no longer are required to pay annual YMCA membership dues and are eligible for all YMCA activities. The YMCA now has 13 active Dorothy Abbott Senior Stars.
