Y-Arts summer camps fully staffed with Y-Arts alumni

The Boothbay Y-Arts Summer Camps are fully staffed this summer with Y-Arts alumni. Arts and Humanities Director Emily Mirabile will lead a staff of young adults who all grew up in her program. Mirabile said that for her “Y-Arts has really started to come full circle. Being able to now staff our summer programs fully with alumni is fantastic! They know the energy and dedication I expect from my staff and they all have an overwhelming love of the program and the arts that they can share with our campers.”

The lineup for summer staff is made up of Rick Hilscher, Taylor Fish, Jackie McLoon, and Roosevelt “Robo” Bishop. Also joining the staff for part of each week will be alumni Melissa Guzzi and Tess Pancera. The other portion of the week for Melissa and Tess will be devoted to leading arts and crafts activities for Camp K campers.

As to why Robo returns to Y-Arts camps each summer he answered, “... indeed why I return every year — because growth in our community ties directly to the growth of our youth. Y-Arts teaches confidence, respect, and the value of hard work. I can think of no better use of my time than to help these programs in anyway I can. It’s an investment in our collective future.”

This summer, Y-Arts will offer three 2-week sessions of the ever popular Music Theatre Camp. Shows performed will be Mary Poppins, Flat Stanley and Annie. New this summer, Y-Arts is filming a movie musical over the course of a 2-week session at the I Love Maine, Movie Musical Camp! Also offered are a few half day camp options during the first and sixth week of the season: Broadway Dance, Theatre Workshop, and Music Video Camp. Not to be missed is also the one week session for our youngest rising stars (ages 3-6), the Broadway Babies Camp of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Y-Arts is grateful to continue their collaboration with the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta. They will perform Mary Poppins, Flat Stanley, and Annie on the Lincoln Stage. The I Love Maine Movie will premiere at the theater in late August.
