A very merry Y-Arts celebration

    Santa sang, too!

The Boothbay Region YMCA Y-Arts youth singers and dancers put on a fun holiday show at the Marylouise Tandy Cowan field house Sunday night, much to the delight of the approximately 300 people in attendance.

Over 50 ballet and jazz dancers, soloists and choirs performed, Santa Claus — with the Y-Arts Theatre Dance group — sang “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” and a community sing-along of Christmas carols were the highlights of the 90-minute program, under the direction of instructors Emily Mirabile and Melissa Nein.

Parents provided cookies, brownies and other baked goods, which were enjoyed after the concert.

And Santa Claus stayed around to listen to children’s Christmas wishes.

One person was missing from the concert, Garry Blackman of Boothbay, who won the Y-Arts raffle of a large basket of donated goods and gift certificates.
