Update: High school students have been directed to do remote learning March 13 due to the water main break.

Original post: A heavy stream of water poured down the hill in front of Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) as crews scrambled to repair a broken main water line March 12. 

Vehicles from Boothbay Region Water District and E.M. Wood Construction were at the scene, as an excavator was clearing out wet soil. 

The cause of the water main break was unclear, according to Alternative Organizational Structure Superintendent Robert Kahler and BRHS Principal Tricia Campbell. Campbell said water was shut off at 3 p.m. She expected repairs to be completed within hours of the damage and school to resume Wednesday, March 13. “They are superheroes over there at the water district,” she added.
