Boothbay Region Garden Club

’Twas a holly jolly Holiday Festival

Tue, 12/05/2023 - 9:00am

Friday, Dec. 1, Boothbay Region Garden Club’s Holiday Festival was held for year two at St. Columba’s. The church parking lot was packed with cars when the festival opened at 10 a.m.

Shoppers were walking out with some of the famed, themed trees. All 35 sold, including the large woodland trees grouping outside the doors. People also bought frozen soups, chowders, chilis, tree decorations, wreaths, themed gift baskets and more.

Themed trees were being carried off, along with ornaments, sweets, wreaths, swags, gift baskets, dish and glassware, frozen dinners, centerpieces, edible birdhouses, cement bird baths and stepping or garden stones, candles and candlesticks.

Just under 100 gift baskets were made and, once again, the themes were imaginative: The technology basket included Bluetooth wireless headphones, a color-changing Glow ball, illusion cube infinite fidget and Rubik’s cube keychain; Spiderman basket; green tea basket with teapot and teacups; gluten-free basket; and more.

“It was a wonderful festival,” said BRGC member Kevin Bowler. “Everyone is very pleased the community came out and helped us raise money for our scholarships and community outreach. The new cookbook was a huge hit and sold very well. There are a few left.” If interested, visit boothbayregiongardenclub.org

Bowler said any food left over went the Boothbay Community Fridge.
