As most know, the Barters Island Community Association hall is closed for the winter months and monthly gatherings are taking place in homes on the third Wednesday of the month. Next up will be February’s potluck that will take place at Paul and Wendy’s home on Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. Wendy would like folks to bring an appetizer, main or side dish or a dessert to share along with their favorite beverage. We note with sadness the passing of our dear friend Tom Fogarty. Tom was always on call for any mechanical problems at the hall and was willing to receive our left over garage sale items on behalf of the Catholic Church. He never refused a request for help. Elaine has moved off the island making for an even greater loss as she was also a great supporter of BICA and had recently served as vice president of the association.

Mel and Evelyn hosted our first potluck of the year. There were amazing appetizers, lasagna, salad, and yummy desserts. It was a lot of fun sitting in front of a cozy fire eating one (or all) of the three wonderful lasagnas Evelyn had prepared for the crowd. It was a great inaugural gathering of our winter get-togethers.
