Thank you First Responders

Mon, 11/06/2017 - 3:30pm

    Dear Editor:

On behalf of the community, I want to thank all of the people who worked tirelessly in response to the extreme damage done from the recent storm. Rain and high winds brought down many trees and knocked out power to our region. During difficult times like this you see the best of people come out, neighbors helping neighbors. This community is amazing and generous.

Thank you to public works crews for clearing trees when CMP said they were safe to touch. Thank you to the firemen who checked in on people with medical needs that require electricity and making sure they were taken care of. Thank you to the policemen who responded to numerous events taking place throughout the storm as well as the days following. Thank you to emergency management for coordinating communication between various agencies, opening warming stations and for their efforts to keep us informed of road closures and repair efforts.

So many people rose to the occasion and went over and above to help, whether it was free showers at the YMCA or delivering meals or opening up hotel rooms to provide warm shelter for those without power. I could go on and on but my point is that we all live in a great community that cares about each other. Thank you all for your selflessness and for helping us all get through this together.
