Stephanie Hawke, our team captain

Mon, 11/06/2017 - 5:30pm

    Dear Editor:

Last week the power outage in our region left so many homes in the dark. Representative Stephanie Hawke started to rally a volunteer team with phone calls. She was on a mission but first needed a location, product, final input, volunteers and drivers. After many phone calls, everyone responding in the positive, she realized her requests and her need to “do something” was soon to become a reality.

Location: Paul Coulombe and the crew at the golf course opened the kitchen. Many businesses provided product, or made it available, anonymous people provided financing, many volunteers — from children to senior citizens — showed up and many drivers became available.

The team went into production mode at 8:30 a.m. the following morning. Over 500 boxed lunches were put together by the team and at noon, drivers arrived to deliver the lunches to those in the areas that did not have power. Letting these people know that they were not forgotten.

Rep. Hawke represents all of us — Republican, Democrat, Independent, etc. — and she works tirelessly for our region. For this, we than her. She pulled together and was the captain of our team and the result was a home run!
