“Ricki and the Flash”: Three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep goes electric and takes on a whole new gig starring as Ricki, a woman who gave up everything for her dream of rock-and-roll stardom. When a crisis arises with the daughter she left behind, Ricki returns home to make things right with her entire family. Streep’s actual daughter Mamie Gummer plays her fictional daughter. The film also stars Rick Springfield, Kevin Kline and some of rock’s veteran musicians portraying the Flash. Plays Thursday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.

“The Man From U.N.C.L.E.”: Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s at the height of the Cold War, this film follows CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) and KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) in director Guy Ritchie’s fresh take on the hugely popular 1960s TV series.

Solo and Kuryakin are forced to put aside longstanding hostilities and team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo's only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find the scientist and prevent a worldwide catastrophe. "The Man from U.N.C.L.E" also stars Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki, Jared Harris and Hugh Grant as Mr. Waverly.

Describing “The Man From U.N.C.L.E” for Newsday, reviewer Rafter Guzman writes, “Not an update of the old TV show, but a revival with dazzling sets, period outfits and wonderfully implausible action. It's an Atomic Age blast.”

This film plays at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4 through Sunday, Sept. 6, Wednesday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 10; plus a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

In September, the theatre will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
