Tonight is the last time the Boothbay selectmen will meet before the annual town meeting on May 5.

Town warrant articles 3, 4 and 25-35 will be reviewed at tonight's public hearing at 6 p.m, one hour before the regularly scheduled selectmen's meeting.

Boothbay turns 250

Dawn Gilbert, a member of the Boothbay Civic Association, will discuss plans to throw a three-day festival for the town of Boothbay's sestercentennial celebration. So far there has been a lot of planning to bring a seafood festival, pig roast, street parade and fireworks to the Boothbay common this August. Gilbert will likely ask the selectmen for their support.

Document scanning

For the past month, the Boothbay selectmen have considered entering into a contract with Record Management Center out of Bangor. For a fixed price of about $250 a day, Record Management Center will transport all of Boothbay's most valuable paper records into digital documents.

For a heftier price, the records can be scanned on site at Boothbay's Town Office. The selectmen have all agreed that in the interest of preserving history, the scanning must happen. However, is it worth the risk transporting Boothbay's most treasured records up to Bangor, or paying extra do have it done on site? Find that out and much more tonight the Boothbay Town Office starting at 7 p.m.
