Ocean Point Column: Local activity and graduations

Wed, 06/03/2015 - 1:00pm

Ocean Point was quite busy over the holiday weekend with both residents and visitors enjoying the good weather. The inn was full and the dining room was open with lots of people enjoying their first meal of the season. Thanks to Tony and his crew for getting the dining room up and running so early in the season.

It was nice to see quite a bit of activity around the casino and the ball field as well.

Jean and John Webster recently traveled to St. Louis to attend the high school graduation of their granddaughter Grace Godsy. Grace is the daughter of Kim (Webster) and her husband Michael. Grace will attend Elon University in the fall.

Sally and Allen Johnson’s granddaughter Corey has graduated from Leigh University and plans to attend medical school in the fall. Corey has been accepted at the University of Colorado Medical School. Corey is the daughter of Tim and Tracy Johnson. Congratulations to both graduates. We wish you well in your future endeavors.

Congratulations to R.J. Anagnost who was just named vice president of compliance at BNP Paribus Bank. R.J. will be spending some time in Morocco.

The Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library has named Brad Betts as artist of the month. Brad’s Down East Gallery is located on Van Horn Road. Stop by when you have a chance to view his beautiful paintings. His work will be on display at the library through the month of June. Congratulations, Brad, on your well deserved recognition by the library.

Ginny and Ted Kern were here for the holiday weekend. Ginny will be back as our AD this summer and she will begin at the end of June. If you have not received a spring mailing she will have them available at the casino.

The first activity of the season will be the Horribles Parade on July 4 at 9:30 a.m. beginning on Van Horn Road. That evening will be the chicken barbecue with one seating at 6:30 p.m. Ticket sales will be announced in the next couple of weeks and information will be on the blog as well.
