No more ‘Three Trees’

Mon, 12/11/2017 - 4:15pm

    Dear Editor:

Earlier this fall, on Monday, Oct. 30, a strong southeaster destroyed and blew down one of the three trees onto the power lines at Ocean Point. This ended a piece of history. I knew that sometime and someday we would eventually have a coastal storm that would blow down one of the three trees — and this event made it finally happen. It occurred exactly four days after my 67th birthday. On the evening of my birthday, Thursday, Oct. 26, we had an exciting thunderstorm around 10:15. The weather is so exciting here in Maine.

If we had gotten that southeaster now, with these few “King tides,” Ocean Point and other places here on the coast would have been flooded out good. And oh, that southeaster knocked out power here for almost a full week!

Snowstorms are next. I am sure we will have a white Christmas this year. I sure hope so; it will make it a beautiful post card scene here at Ocean Point.

I remember the real white Christmas we all got back before the holiday in 2008. We got socked with 18 inches of snow!
