Aaron Durgan was accepted as a full-time member of the Boothbay Harbor Public Works Department at the March 9 selectmen’s meeting. At the same meeting, Julian Hauser was appointed as a new reserve police officer for the Boothbay Harbor Police Department.

Durgan was chosen out of 17 total applicants for the full-time position.

Town Manager Tom Woodin read the recommendation by Police Chief Bob Hasch to make Hauser a reserve officer, and stated that he is a “nice, young gentleman” who has already passed many of the tests required to join the force, such as the polygraph, psychological and physical tests.

Woodin also said that Hauser was a recent graduate of Boothbay Region High School, and was familiar with the area. Hauser was not in attendance at the March 9 meeting.

The selectmen unanimously voted to appoint both to their respective positions.
