Monona Stover Watts, 71, of Boothbay Harbor passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024 at Riverside at Chase Point.

She was born at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor on March 12, 1953, to Manley E. and Raydelle B. Stover.

Monona graduated from Boothbay Region High School and received her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Maine at Orono. On June 12, 1976, Monona married Robert B. Watts and they spent the next 45 years making their home on Sea Street in Boothbay Harbor.

Monona was a talented seamstress and knitter. She could take a full ball gown apart and put it back together and it would fit perfectly. Her talents led her to open a small family business, “A Stitch in Time,” where she sold fabric and yarn. She used this business to help teach many locals how to knit or sew.

She loved her family and friends. For the longest time, she and Robert would host a Sunday night cookout at their house for their close friends. Monona was also a Cub Scout and Webelos leader when their son Rob was involved.

Monona enjoyed camping with friends and family and particularly enjoyed camping in Acadia National Park. She also was a lover of animals and enjoyed spending time with her many pets over the years.

She enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots, but always preferred watching her grandkids play their sports or act in their theater productions.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert.

Monona is survived by her son Robert B. Watts II and his wife Sara of Southport; one sister, Holly Stover of Boothbay; two brothers, Eugene (Lorna) Stover and Daniel (Karen) Stover, both of Florida; her special Aunt Joyce Durfee of Boothbay and the pride and joys of her life, her granddaughters, Ella and Kayla Watts of Southport.

There will be no service at her request.
