Make a joyful noise

    Dear Editor:

After more than a year of listening to the most inappropriate and unacceptable language by candidates, repeated by press, staff and neighbors, the American people’s brains are covered in mud. Even if we manage not to use the ugly words, we think them and they cloud the landscape of good, love and kindness. I have been looking for a magic “morning after” pill or computer App to clean my thoughts and get back to the joy in living.

While searching the internet, I stumbled onto one of the last GOTV candidate advertisements. What a fresh, beautiful closing ad it was for this election. It began with the music from “Roar.”

“I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire.

'Cause I am a champion and you're gonna hear me roar

    Louder, louder than a lion

'Cause I am a champion and you're gonna hear me roar”

The scenery is one silent picture after another of people from all ages and walks of life all smiling with joy in their eyes, stating one by one why they are voting. Each statement begins with I am voting for . . .

The reasons come with smiles as you read the words with uplifting music in the background:

I am going to vote — for respect, for courage, for equality, for community, for fairness, for I have had enough, for higher wages, for debt relief, for this baby, for against hate, for the planet, for the future, for our future and at last, for a president.

Pope Francis recently said, “Against the terror, the best remedy is love. Love heals all.”

Healing opens the doors to the joyful faces of children and a happier future. Many churches will be praying on Wednesday morning for the healing of minds, hearts and spirits as the country moves forward. We are capable of greatness when we make joyful noises in music and have positive reasons for our voting.
