Leta M. (Brewer) McGee, 75, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, died Feb. 10, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Leta was born in East Boothbay, daughter of the late Cyrus A. and Leta M. (Burnham) Brewer. Known best to her Maine friends as Lee, she attended Boothbay Region High School before moving to Massachusetts where she graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1959. Besides being a hairdresser and having her real estate license, Leta attended Quinsigamond Community College and graduated from the Nursing Program in 1975 as an RN.

Leta worked for several years as a nurse for the Shrewsbury school system in the 1970’s, and later took a position at UMass Memorial. She then worked at Dr. Moretti’s office in Shrewsbury until she retired.

Leta was a self-taught talented artist. She enjoyed painting, sewing, and creating all types of crafts for her family. Gardening and reading were favorite pastimes for Leta as well. She also loved her animals, having raised and nurtured many cats and dogs during her life. Above all else, she valued every moment she spent with her loved ones. Her trademark response to her family was “love you more.”

Leta leaves behind her loving husband, Laurence G. McGee; three children, Donna M. Maynard and her husband Stephen of Shrewsbury, Diane M. Dagle Haddad and her husband John of East Boothbay, and Kevin P. Dagle of Uxbridge; a sister, Daphne Weld Nichols of Arlington; six grandchildren, Daniel and his wife Erin, Alicia, Lauren, Kari, Zachary and Jenna; four great grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Lillyana and Kylie; two nieces, Lisa and Kim; and two nephews, Glen and Thomas.

Relatives and friends were invited to visit with Leta’s family Feb. 25 prior to the service of remembrance, which was held at 4 p.m. at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Shrewsbury.
