Registration has begun for the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce education program entitled “Local Access to Healthcare Services: Today’s Challenges and Tomorrow’s Expectations.” This insightful program focusing on healthcare from the business perspective will be presented by Jim Donovan, president and CEO of Lincoln County Healthcare, on Thurs, Apr 30, 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at Miles Memorial Hospital.

Donovan will discuss how Lincoln County Healthcare is structured locally and within the MaineHealth system to consistently deliver high quality care with a focus on cost, patient and resident satisfaction, and community health improvement. He will explore key trends in the delivery and financing of healthcare services, how they may evolve going forward, and what this all may mean for local businesses. This topic touches all businesses and employees, and this promises to be an informative and valuable presentation for leaders of businesses and organizations throughout our region.

Donovan became president and CEO of Lincoln County Healthcare in 2008 after working in health care administration in Maine since 1987. He received a bachelor’s degree from the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, and a master’s degree in health care administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He is currently a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and incoming chairman of the board of directors for the Maine Hospital Association. His community engagement includes serving on the board of directors of the Damariscotta River Association.

“Healthcare impacts all individuals and all businesses, and this program will clarify the issues and trends we are all facing,” Chamber president Marva Nesbit said. “The chamber board chose this topic for our final education program this spring because of the importance of quality healthcare to businesses throughout the region.”

Thanks to the generous support of sponsor Lincoln County Healthcare, this education program will be free to members of the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce; the fee for non-members is $35. Due to space limitations, advanced registration is required.
