Robyn Handley, daughter of Mike and Beth Handley of Dedham, granddaughter of James and Sandy Smyth of Boothbay, and great-granddaughter of Evelyn Robinson of Edmunds, received a bachelor’s degree from Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts, on Sunday, May 17.

She was one of 666 seniors who graduated during the college’s 137th commencement exercises, at which pioneering educator Juliet V. García, the first Hispanic woman to lead a U.S. college or university, was the featured speaker.

A 2011 graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School, Handley majored in education and environmental science and policy at Smith. Her undergraduate activities included tutoring students at Homework House in Holyoke, Massachusetts, and playing in the Smith College wind ensemble.

In the fall, Handley will attend graduate school at the University of Minnesota-Mankato where she will study experiential education.
