Dear Editor:

I would like to express my thanks to Jake Schwarz (sp?) in the Boothbay Harbor Hannaford produce department. A while back I called and asked him to look into ordering turmeric root. While I don’t think he knew what it was he was more than willing to try.

At first it did not sound like it was available to order from the regular list of items. But Jake pursued it and when he found the item was available in another store, he looked again and was able to order it. I encouraged him by saying I had looked for it at the Whole Foods Market in Portland and found it was sold out.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the turmeric in stock next to the ginger and at quite a reasonable price!

I encourage everyone to look into its health benefits and culinary uses and consider giving it a try!
