Fishermen’s Festival: The music scene for 2015

After the pageantry and the competitions, check out the night life during Fishermen's Festival. Call your favorite guy or gal, and meet some friends — new and old — at local clubs with bands ready to get you dancing and celebrating the arrival of spring.

On Friday, April 24, Sweatin' Bullets plays Robinson's Wharf, with traditional country and rock ‘n’ roll classics by lead singer Mike Stevens, bassist David Rodrigues, lead guitarist Lee Sellers and Steve Pogue on drums.

The Resistance plays at Herringbones at 9 p.m., sponsored by Budweiser, which will host a variety of games, prizes and giveaways.

Rick & the Rickoshays plays at Mine Oyster. This band features Rick Turcotte on guitar, vocals and harmonica, Scott Rittall on percussion, Paul Johnson on lead guitar and Pip Walter on stand up bass.

On Saturday, April 25, Sweatin' Bullets play Herringbones at 9 p.m. There will be a 50/50 raffle to benefit the Fishermen's Memorial Fund and a Geary's $3 pint special with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Fisherman's Memorial Fund.

Dyer Neck Gang plays at Mr. C's. This local band features Garry Blackman Jr. on percussion, Joe Dalton on guitar, Rod Morton on lead guitar and Olin Sherwood on bass. Country that rocks!

The Marshall Nelson Trio plays Robinson's Wharf from 2-5 p.m.

Boogie 2 Shooz plays Whale's Tale from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Musicians Patti-Jean Cousens and Pam Jennkins deliver scorching torch ballads, hot blues, funk R&B, soul, Latin and jazz tunes.

And Gang of Thieves plays at Mine Oyster. Fisherman’s Festival kicks off the Mine Oyster music scene for the upcoming season with this high energy Burlington, Vermont band. Gang of Thieves' stew of influences: From Red Hot Chili Peppers and Sublime to Rage Against the Machine and Led Zeppelin.

On Sunday, April 26 is the Fishermen's Festival Closing Celebration at Herringbones.

After the Blessing of the Fleet, the Harbor's “Master of the Mic” Billy Rogers will host events from 4 to 7 p.m. with Geary's $3 pints (portion of the proceeds to benefit the Fishermen's Memorial Fund), promotional giveaways, games and door prizes.
