Enjoy the Brun exhibit

    Dear Editor:

Last Friday’s opening at Wiscasset’s Maine Art Gallery, featuring paintings and sculpture by the late Virginia S. Brun, elicited remarks of surprise and praise from many in attendance.

Sentiments of surprise arose from those who had been unaware of the high caliber output of this tremendous local talent. Exclamations of praise were in response to the energy and vivacity emanating from Brun’s lively sculptures. The emotions expressed in these sculptures run the gamut from strutting exuberance of a cocky frog to self-absorbed sensuality of tango dancers.

Special credit for exhibiting this artwork must be awarded to both MAG artist-member Jorge Pena and Brun’s grand-nephew, Christopher Eichler, who successfully balanced dual mediums in the one-room gallery.

This delightful exhibit will continue to be shown, free of charge, on Saturdays and Sundays through July 16, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Maine Art Gallery, 15 Warren Street, Wiscasset.
