“How to Train Your Dragon 2” (PG, 1 hour 42 minutes)

It's been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snotlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races, the now inseparable pair discover a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons, and find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Screenings: Wednesday, August 13 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, August 14 at 2 p.m.. Presented in partnership with Sproul’s Furniture.

“Monty Python Live (mostly)”

For the first time in over 30 years, comedy legends Monty Python performed live on stage together this year. Monty Python are rightfully regarded as among the world’s finest-ever comedians. This Lincoln Theater encore showing takes place Thursday August 14 at 7 p.m.

“Words & Pictures” (PG-13, 1 hour 51 minutes)

Prep school teacher Jack Marcus (Clive Owen) laments his students' obsession with social media and good grades rather than engaging with the power of the written word. A one-time literary star, Jack has not published in years. He meets his match in Dina Delsanto (Juliette Binoche) - an abstract painter and new teacher on campus, who was once celebrated for her art. From the start, the two flirt and provoke each other with equal relish.

Plays at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 15, Saturday August 16, Sunday August 17, Tuesday August 19 and Wednesday August 20; and Thursday August 21 at 2 and 7 p.m. Presented in partnership with Pine Tree Yarns.

Saltbay Chamberfest Family Concert

Conductor Mark Mandarano, Salt Bay Chamberfest's dynamic and popular pre-concert lecturer and program annotator, will emcee the proceedings, in which Salt Bay Chamberfest musicians will premiere nine new works by students of the Music & Nature Camp and play several famous classical pieces inspired by nature. Children of all ages are invited to attend this Saturday, August 16 performance at 10:30 a.m.

BBC Docu-drama: “Churchill’s First World War” (1 hour 34 minutes, free)

This is our third and final free screening commemorating the centenary ofWW1. At the outbreak of war, Britain’s First Lord of the Admiralty, 39-year-old Winston Churchill, dreams of winning fame and glory. But when the disastrous Battle of Gallipoli leads to his disgrace and eventual resignation, he dreams of redemption, instead. See how political intrigue, ambition, and remarkable military adventures combine with the love of a wise woman to forge Britain’s future great champion of World War II. Plays Monday, August 18 at 7 p.m.

On Saturday August 23 at 7 p.m., live on the stage, Lincoln Theater is pleased to host Sue Richards, four-time US National Scottish Harp Champion and Carolyn Surrick, one of the country’s most accomplished performers on the viola da gamba, in “Far Beyond Yon Mountain - An Evening of Music from Ireland, Scotland and Sweden.”
