In September, we'll launch a new season of broadcasts from the National Theatre in London, a new season from the Metropolitan Opera, live performances from the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon, fun for the entire family from the Big Apple Circus, a new series of life play readings, movies and more.

“Words & Pictures” (PG-13, 1 hour 51 minutes)

Prep school teacher Jack Marcus (Clive Owen) laments his students' obsession with social media and good grades rather than engaging with the power of the written word. A one-time literary star, Jack has not published in years. He meets his match in Dina Delsanto (Juliette Binoche), an abstract painter and new teacher on campus, who was once celebrated for her art. From the start, the two flirt and provoke each other with equal relish. Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 21 at 2 and 7 p.m. Presented in partnership with Pine Tree Yarns.

“Begin Again” (R, 1 hour 44 minutes)

Gretta (Keira Knightley) and her long-time boyfriend Dave (Adam Levine) are college sweethearts and songwriting partners who decamp for New York when he lands a deal with a major label. But his new-found fame soon tempts Dave to stray, and a lovelorn Gretta is left on her own. Her world takes a turn when Dan (Mark Ruffalo), a disgraced record-label exec, stumbles upon her performing on an East Village stage. Plays at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, Sunday, Aug. 24, Tuesday, Aug. 26 and Wednesday, Aug. 27; at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23 and at 2 and 7 p.m. on August 28. Presented in partnership with Northeast Security Systems.

“Far Beyond Yon Mountain”

An Evening of Music from Ireland, Scotland and Sweden with Sue Richards and Carolyn Surrick have spent the last two and a half decades recording and touring together with Ensemble Galilei — a shared music, a shared expression of their craft. Sue, four-time US National Scottish Harp Champion and Carolyn, one of the country’s most accomplished performers on the viola da gamba bring virtuosity, humor, fine musicianship, and heart to every performance. Saturday August 23 at 7 p.m.
