Boothbay Region Garden Club sponsors “Making Strides for Breast Cancer” Walk
Please join us on Saturday, Oct. 4at 1 p.m. (rain date Oct. 5)to help us save lives from breast cancer! Your local Garden Club is raising funds for the American Cancer Society (ACS) to help fund patient support services and lifesaving research. In prior years, the American Cancer Society sponsored a Breast Cancer Walk in Damariscotta but this year the closest official walk is in the Portland area. So, we decided to work with the ACS to providean option for Boothbay peninsula – and Midcoast Maine - residents toparticipate in this important nationwide event.
Please check in at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church at 32 Emery Lane in Boothbay Harbor. From there, the walk will proceed on a route through Penny Lake preserve which is part of the Boothbay Region Land Trust. The route is approximately 1.5 miles and is mostly level. Checks only – made out to the American Cancer Society. And don’t forget to wear pink!!!
