Bob Pascal’s daughter wins Emmy

Bob Pascal of Boothbay Harbor received a call from his daughter in Chicago this week about solving a unique dilemma. “Dad, how do I get an Emmy on an airplane?” Mickie Pascal, a casting director, asked her father this unusual question after winning the esteemed trophy for television excellence. On Jan. 6, Pascal along with other casting directors Jeanie Bacharach, Jennifer Rudnicke and AJ Links won a Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series and Limited or Anthology. They worked on casting for FX’s comedy-drama series “The Bear.”

The series premiered on Hulu on June 23, 2022 starring Jeremy Allen White as a young, award-winning chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to manage a chaotic kitchen at his deceased brother’s sandwich shop. The supporting cast includes Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colon-Zayas, Abby Elliott and Matty Matheson.

The 2023 Emmys, originally scheduled to take place last September, landed in January this year. The ceremony was delayed due to the WGA (Writers Guild of America) and SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) strikes. The Creative Arts Emmy honors artistic and technical achievement in a host of television genres as well as animated, reality, variety series and specials. An edited version of the two-night ceremony will be shown on FXX at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13.

The Television Academy and Fox Network announced the 75th Emmy Awards will air live coast-to-coast on Monday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m.
