Bayville Buzz: Get ready for the Pickle Ball tournament

Wed, 08/24/2016 - 1:30pm

Though the Bayville Waterfront Festival is over, the euphoria still hangs in the air. The cleanup is complete, the prize money has been distributed and some competitors have already signed up for next year — vowing to turn in better performances.

Don't forget to hit the Y this week for Pickle Ball Pilates so that you are ready for the pickle ball tourney coming up on Labor Day weekend on our very own courts. Bayville is lucky to be hosting such a prestigious event, so please come out and enjoy the fun. Check the post office for all the details.

Moose was kind enough to send along the following: It has been a busy and fun-filled summer at the McDonough house. Summer began with a trip to Southern California to see our eldest grandchild, Kaitlin Hahn, graduate from high school. That was followed by Kaitlin and her family (brother Joseph and mom Kathy (McDonough) Hahn) visiting us in Bayville, while Kaitlin attended college orientation at Suffolk University in Boston where she will start her freshman year in the fall.

In late July, our son David and his family, (wife Chrissy, son Colin and daughter Reagan) came to visit for 10 days.

Several times during this period, our daughter Kerin and her family, (husband Ian and sons Jack and Drew, who all live in Scarborough, Maine) came to Bayville to visit with her siblings and their families.

At the beginning of August we traveled to Pinehurst, North Carolina to join our son Jimmy and his family, (wife Juliette and sons Brady and Ryan) to watch Brady (age 10) play in the US Kids Golf World Championship. Brady did quite well in the event. He was a member of the winning team in the team challenge golf tournament (25 teams from around the world) and he placed 37th (11 over par) in the 54 hole, 3 day tournament. This tournament had 138 10-year-old players from 42 countries competing and was played on a 5400 yard Jack Nicklaus designed course in Pinehurst called “The Legacy.”

Thanks for all the news Moose and congratulations Brady! I, too, was recently on pace to shoot an 11 over round. Unfortunately, things quickly went south when I hit the ships wheel at Dolphin Mini Golf.

If you have any news, get it to me now (thejeffallison@gmail.com) as another wonderful summer is rapidly coming to an end and the press room will soon be shuttered. See you at the courts!
