Rising Tide Community Market in Damariscotta recently donated $428.59 to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter as part of its Co-ops for Community Day program, in which .5 percent of the store’s Wednesday sales benefit a community nonprofit.

The Edgecomb animal shelter was the Co-ops for Community Day recipient for July 2014, and is also the recipient for the current month of September.

“Our member-owners select Rising Tide’s Co-ops for Community Day recipients. The Lincoln County Animal Shelter consistently gets a large number of votes, which shows that our community really supports the work that LCAS does,” said Elya Markert, Rising Tide’s Outreach and Marketing Coordinator.

Customers can help to support the Lincoln County Animal Shelter by shopping at Rising Tide on Wednesdays through September. There will be a table set up on those days with general information about the animal shelter, adoption applications, and a list of ongoing needs at the shelter.

October’s Co-ops for Community Day recipient will be the Community Housing Improvement Project. CHIP is an organization that makes basic home repairs for area residents who don’t have the resources or ability to do so themselves.
