Great Salt Bay defeated Boothbay, 28-19, on Feb. 5 to claim the Busline League Small Conference Boys' basketball championship. The Eagles used a 2-3 zone to start the game and finished with a man-to-man defense which stymied the Wildcats' offense. Boothbay trailed, 6-2, after one quarter. The Wildcats trailed 18-17 late in the third quarter, but only scored two points in the final period.
Miles Hyson led the Wildcats with nine points. Other Boothbay scorers were Spencer Wade with six, and Isiah Bates and Ryder Campbell with two each.
Boothbay finishes the season with a 9-6 record. GSB is now 12-3 and will face the northern champ on Feb. 9 at the BRES gymnasium.
