Guests learn at Bigelow Laboratory open house
Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences held an open house July 19. Guests interested in the marine sciences visited the East Boothbay facility. The event had 13 different 15-minute presentations on how scientists explore marine life and aquaculture.
Guests also visited individual stations to decipher Minute Mysteries, photos with scientist lab coats, beekers and other props, art activities including Ocean Life Coloring and Design-a-Plankton, using oceanographic research equipment such as a Secchi Disk and Niskin bottle, and viewing Damariscotta River plankton under a microscope.
