Cheese sale benefits Boothbay Region Historical Society
One of the Boothbay Region Historical Society’s most anticipated annual events is its fall fundraiser featuring Grafton Village cheeses. On Saturday, Oct. 7, society volunteers will be selling cheese and other special items at two locations: the society museum, 72 Oak Street in Boothbay Harbor, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,and at the Fall Foliage Festival in the Railway Village’s Town Hall from 9 a.m. to sold-out. This year also marks the society’s 50th anniversary. The cheese sale is the perfect time to congratulate them by making a purchase, becoming a new member, or both.
Sale tables at both locations will be well stocked with Grafton’s two-year aged cheddar and, new this year, their very popular maple smoked cheese. Both kinds will be hand cut and wrapped in 8 oz. and 4 oz. packages, $8 and $4.25 respectively. Other items for sale will include aprons embroidered with the historical society’s logo, books on local history, gifts for cheese lovers, and more. Membership forms will also be available. New members are always welcome and encouraged to join.
A reminder: society friends and members who ordered cheese in advance will only be able pick up and pay for their packages at the museum on Friday, Oct. 6 or Saturday, Oct. 7 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Even though your pre-order will not be available at the society’s table at the Railway Village, please stop by to say hello while you’re at the Fall Foliage Festival.
The society is very appreciative of everyone who supports this important fall fundraiser. They also extend grateful thanks to the Railway Village for making space available in the old Town Hall for local non-profits to set up sale and information tables.
Funds from the sale of cheese and other items at both locations go to support the society’s mission of preserving and promoting the history of the Boothbay region, the development of society programs, and maintaining access to the museum and its collections.
