Boothbay Harbor passes town budget
Around 30 Boothbay Harbor voters passed a $4,241,854 budget for the 2017-2018 fiscal year in a little over an hour at town meeting on Saturday, May 6. The budget is up three percent, or $139,366, over last year’s.
The 24 articles passed did not include budget figures for the school department or county taxes. Town Manager Thomas Woodin told voters those figures were unavailable. The school committee holds its budget meeting on Wednesday, May 10, at 6 p.m. in the Boothbay Region Elementary School gymnasium.
At the polls on Friday, May 5, the vote ran 123-19 to authorize selectmen to commit up to $250,000 in matching funds if the town gets a Small Harbor Improvement Grant for future renovations to the Boothbay Harbor footbridge.
Denise Griffin and Tricia Warren were re-elected to three-year terms as selectmen. Ronnie Campbell was elected to a two-year term as a trustee for the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Community School District. Richard Hallinan was re-elected to serve as trustee for three more years. Voters renewed Larry Colcord’s CSD School Committee seat for three years.
Henry Tedeschi Jr. will serve another three years as a Sewer District trustee. Ralph Welch was re-elected to three more years as a Cemetery District trustee. David Tibbetts will fill a three-year seat as a trustee for the Boothbay Region Water District.
