Art by Christina Eighmey at The First National Bank
Southport-based artist Christina Eighmey (pronounced "Amy"), has been selected by the Boothbay Region Art Foundation to display her art at The First National Bank in Boothbay Harbor. The exhibition runs to the end of May.
Born in Waterloo, Iowa, Christina says she’s been an artist since she was four years old.
Eighmey is a Desert Shield/Desert Storm Gulf War veteran. She was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany for four years in the U.S. Army. While in Germany, she served as a German-American translator and defensive mapper.
Eighmey moved to Maine from Germany in 1990 after completing active duty. She lived in Brunswick for five years and then Scarborough before moving to Southport Island.
“The beauty surrounded by me in Maine has inspired me in a way that is indescribable,” Eighmey said. “I have been inspired by life itself in Maine, the ever changing movements, seasons, and history. Maine has brought much inspiration to me, from the smells of the ocean to the beautiful marshes to the hidden coves. Maine has given life back to me just as I have been inspired to give life back to Maine.”
Eighmey works with watercolor, oil and acrylics. She is also inspired by the achievements of others (check out her sports series), and has a great passion for animals. She is a survivor in many ways and is inspired to paint her experiences and views of life.
