Boothbay region students making community connections
The second annual Community Connections will be held on Wednesday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Boothbay Region High School gymnasium. This event focuses on connecting students in grades 8 through 12 with local businesses and community organizations.
Community Connections organizers Brooke Newberg (BRHS - guidance counselor), Pauline Dion (Boothbay Sea and Science Center - president), Kerrin Erhard (BRHS - college access counselor) and George Schimert (Boothbay Harbor Country Club - executive chef) have once again joined forces to create this unique event that offers students the opportunity to learn more about local job and volunteer opportunities and to explore, firsthand through conversation, future career paths.
According to the organizers, keeping our community a place where our youth are connected, feel a deep sense of belonging and know that they are valued are the guiding principles upon which this event is built.
Businesses and organizations that will be attending this year’s Community Connections include: Boothbay Harbor Shipyard, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Science, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, MaineHealth, Downeast Candies, Central Maine Community College, Boothbay Region YMCA, Hannaford Supermarket, Topside Inn, Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club, Healthy Lincoln County, The First National Bank, Tidal Transit, Boothbay Region Land Trust, Artist’s Alley, Boothbay Region Community Resource Council, Red Cloak Haunted History Tours, Boothbay Region Community Television, Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce, Bath Savings Bank, Boothbay Railway Village, Compass Rose Events, Community Center, Boothbay Sea and Science Center and Boothbay Harbor Country Club.
