Boothbay Region High School standout Kate Friant was tapped as a member of Portland's NBC affiliate, WCSH, “Varsity Club.” The Varsity Club honors outstanding students from high schools throughout Maine. Friant's video, which aired on Feb. 7, focuses on her athletic career at BRHS, her student leadership and her volunteerism.
Principal Dan Welch said he was more than happy to nominate Friant. “She has an innate motivation to excel. Since her first day at BRHS she has worked tenaciously to achieve her goals in the classroom and in the realms of extracurricular activities. She's a leader who is willing to put in the hard work and the dedication to meet her goals,” he said.
