Popular “Balancing Act” class returning to St. Andrews Campus of LincolnHealth Oct. 11
“Balancing Act,” a free, four-session class to help people learn how to avoid falls will be offered at the St. Andrews Campus of LincolnHealth in Boothbay Harbor beginning Oct. 11.
Falls are one of the leading causes of both fatal and non-fatal injuries among the elderly and can also result in people losing their ability to live independently.
The classes are designed to help people improve their balance and better understand risks both within and outside the home, so they can remain active and live at home as long as possible. About 75 percent of participants in previous sessions of this popular class showed significant improvement in fall risk screening tests six weeks after the classes ended.
“Balancing Act” will be offered Tuesdays at 11 a.m. for four weeks beginning Oct. 11. There is no charge but registration is required because the size of the class is limited.
