Boothbay Harbor town manager receives salary increase

Boothbay Harbor selectmen voted to make a “market correction” to Town Manager Tom Woodin's salary at their Nov. 23 meeting, raising his yearly pay from around $74,000 to $78,000.
The decision was made after an executive session.
According to Vice Chairman Bill Hamblen, the selectmen looked at a wide variety of town manager salaries in Maine, using data from the Maine Municipal Association’s statewide salary database.
The selectmen mostly focused on salaries in towns similar to Boothbay Harbor — coastal tourist spots with small year-round populations and, in many cases, their own police forces.
“Overall, it was clear that town manager salaries in similar towns were higher than Boothbay Harbor’s,” Hamblen said.
