Lillian Sherburne: Bound for Coastal Studies for Girls – with your help
Boothbay Region High School sophomore Lillian Sherburne was recently accepted by the Coastal Studies for Girls (CSG) in Freeport for a semester of study. CSG is the only all-girl sophomore semester school in the U.S.
“I have a passion for leadership and the outdoors. At Coastal Studies for Girls I will be doing many things, including building my leadership skills and knowledge about marine science and other subjects,” Sherburne said. “I will be living in a farmhouse on campus.”

Now accepted, Sherburne must raise $10,000. She has begun fundraising efforts with a GoFundMe account at https://www.gofundme.com/qm77vbyk.
And tickets are being sold for a weekend at Beachcroft Cottage on Southport. That's three nights in a cozy family style, five-bedroom, three-bath waterfront home with beach access any weekend between Sept. 2 and Oct. 2, 2016.
Also included in the stay are six lobsters, delivered; a bottle of wine, a $50 gift certificate to Robinson's Wharf Restaurant; a dinner (courtesy of Cottage Connection of Maine); and six tickets to ride aboard the Novelty from Balmy Days Cruises (Pier 8).
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in an all-girls community where I will become more confident – in myself and my surroundings,” Sherburne said. “I appreciate any help my community can give me. Thanks so much in advance.”
There are only 250 tickets available. Tickets are $20 for one and $35 for two. The winner of the drawing will be notified and announced on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
To purchase tickets, contact Sherburne at 207-790-1572 or by email, arlyn4426@gmail.com.
