Boothbay Harbor police reported a burglary and an attempted break-in in the downtown area over the last week.

Chief Bob Hasch said the Whale’s Tale on the east side of the harbor was entered into after hours on October 25 and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the cash register.

Suspicious activity was also reported on the footbridge where the latch securing the gate of the footbridge house was sawed through late Halloween night. Hasch said there was no evidence that the house was entered or anything removed.

Hasch said police are investigating the burglary and the break-in and would appreciate hearing from any member of the public who may have seen or heard anything in either instance.
