A lighthouse keeper's daughter
My name is Adele Muise Bailey and I love Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
I grew up living on Burnt Island Light House Station. My dad, Joseph Muise, was lighthouse keeper there from 1936 into 1951. I graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School, class of 1949. My husband, Lincoln, grew up in Wiscasset. He was in the Air Force and retired in 1970.
We lived in many places and ended up in Enfield, Conn., living here from 1979 to the present. Lincoln passed away in 2012.
We had many visits to Burnt Island and Boothbay Harbor, but because of my age and other problems, I am not able to visit there anymore. But I am thankful to God that He has given us memories and, believe me, I have many of them, of Boothbay Harbor and Burnt Island -- these are among my favorite memories. I have said to many -- if you want to do something special, go to Burnt Island. It's a wonderful place.
Thank you for allowing me to write this about my two favorite spots.
