Lincoln Arts Festival’s annual boatyard art show and sale, Arts & Yachts, opens Thursday evening, Aug. 20, with a Gala Artists’ Reception from 5 to 7 p.m. The event continues Friday Aug. 21 through Sunday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Located at Hodgdon Yacht Services (formerly the Boothbay Region Boatyard) on Southport, the Arts & Yachts event will highlight the work of visual artists, the yacht-making skills of the boatyard, and the culinary arts of Chef Mike Whitney.

Twenty-five Boothbay region artists will show paintings and sculpture, jewelry and furniture, fiber arts and glass, wood and pottery. The exciting thing about this show for visitors is that it is designed for interaction and participation as well as observation and shopping.

Saturday is designated as the Arts & Yachts Education Day. Artists will demonstrate jewelry-making, bamboo fly-rod skills, painting, weaving, and other arts processes all day on Saturday, and several artists will demonstrate their work throughout the weekend. The activities are both child and adult-friendly.

In addition to the arts activities, visitors will be able to see some of the beautiful yachts at the boatyard and have brunch, lunch, or an early dinner at Chef Mike Whitney’s Family Thyme “pop-up” restaurant. Chef Whitney will feature local Southport oysters, mussels and lobster, as well as a variety of sandwiches, wraps, and salads. The kids will especially enjoy his “make your own” pizza and bread-making activities.

Arts & Yachts kicks off on Thursday evening, Aug. 20, with an artists’ reception featuring music, wine and lovely refreshments from area restaurants from 5-7 p.m., open to the public. The show continues Friday through Sunday, from 10 am to 6 p.m. To reach the show at Hodgdon Yacht Services, follow the Art Show signs all along Route 27 S, across the Southport bridge. The boatyard is located at 100 Ebenecook Road.
