Boothbay Harbor Hannaford celebrates grand reopening

After months of reconstruction and renovations, the Boothbay Harbor Hannaford opened its doors at 7 a.m. on June 13 to hundreds of people hoping to score a gift card and check out the new amenities the store had to offer.
Gift cards were handed out to the first 300 customers, the last one at 7:21 a.m., but the crowds continued to come long after. The cards were valued at $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, and one at $250.
Wicked Joe Coffee representatives Bill and Kari Guddeck served free coffee outside the door.
Along with the throngs of customers, approximately 115 employees from surrounding Hannaford stores were there to answer questions and join in on the celebration.
Produce Manager Chuck Cunningham said that when the doors opened at 7 a.m. there were upwards of 100 people waiting to come in.
“They were lining up at quarter past six,” he said. “The first gentleman in line (George Whitten) was here at a little bit before six.”
Cunningham said that besides the gift cards there were a lot of good deals being offered.
According to Director of Operations Bob Hatem, the reopening celebration was a huge success.
